Kingston Heart Clinic does not have any patient parking. There are 5 metered parks directly outside the clinic and one handicapped parking spot. There is also metered street parking on Garrett street immediately behind KHC (between University and Division street) which is frequently available.

Generally speaking if you go to City Hall and explain the circumstances to the Fines department, they will usually cancel the ticket. The Kingston Heart Clinic and Kingston Heart Clinic Nuclear and Vascular laboratory cannot be held responsible for any fines incurred.

Yes, you would be surprised how many people arrive in the clinic and sit and wait without telling anyone they are there.

Theoretically we are NOT allowed to see anyone without an OHIP card. In fact you run the risk of being billed directly for any services. It then becomes your responsibility to be reimbursed by OHIP.

Knowing your medication accurately is CRUCIAL to ongoing care. We suggest that you either bring ALL of your medications to the visit or an up to date list of medications prepared the night before to include name of the medication(s), dose and number of pills taken per day.

The clinic is open from 7:30am to 5 pm.

Usually 24 hours during the week and 48 hours on the weekend. If you cancel after that you can be billed for our time. Obviously this is rarely done as there are usually extenuating circumstances. It is crucial to give 48hours if you need to cancel a nuclear cardiac test. If you have a test requiring raioactive isotope and you do not turn up, that isotope is lost. We have a list of patients waiting and advanced notice allows us to use your isotope on another patient. Patients who cancel appointments twice in a row will not be re-booked.

There are guidelines, which are published by the OMA. The Kingston Heart Clinic follows these guidelines. You can log on at www.oma.org and find out the fees for yourself.

There are 8 simultaneous rooms for which appointments can be booked for the many different testing procedures and there are always two Physicians seeing Patients as well. We have had people walk out and complain thinking someone has jumped the queue when in fact that Patient is here for a different appointment. In general testing procedures are usually on time and Physicians are usually running late.

We advise you to come 5-10 minutes before the appointment. This allows time for processing with the Receptionist.

It is unwise for relatives or spouses to be present during testing, unless of course there is a need for a translator. There are space confinements and there is a need for staff to concentrate on the job in hand. Also in an emergency staff need to be focused on their emergency procedures.
