Patients having a nuclear heart scan using SESTAMIBI or MYOVIEW should not travel to the USA for the next 72hrs. You will set off the radioactive alarms at the border. If travelling to the USA within the next 7 days please ask the staff for a medical note for US border security. For those whose nuclear heart scan is perormed using THALLIUM the time is much longer. We recommend a letter if you are travelling to the USA within the next 30 days. The other issue that has arisen recently is Wastemanagement dump sites. These dumpsites in Canada export their garbage to the USA and so their staff may not let you in the gates if their radioactive alarms are triggered. A medical letter at the wastemenagment dumpsite has no weight at all.
