Methods: Our database was searched for all patients (P) with the following ECHO data, RVSP, EF, E/A ratio, LA size and E/E’. EF was divided into groups of ≤30%, 31-50% and >50%. LA size was divided into groups of ≤40mm and >40mm. E/E' ratios were divided into groups of ≤8, 9-15 and >15. E/A ratios were divided into ≤0.50, 0.51-1.0, 1.01-1.50, 1.51-2.00 and >2.00. Linear regression analysis (LRA), ANOVA and t-test were used for statistical evaluation where appropriate. Results: See Table 1. Conclusion : With ECHO parameters indicating worsening systolic or diastolic function, RVSP increases. The "U" shape distribution between RVSP and E/A ratio is related to advancing age with E/A ratios 2.0 there are two different populations, a younger, healthy one with lower RVSP (28.2±5.2) and an older population with truly abnormal diastolic dysfunction, and higher RVSP (42.0±11.9). | | RVSP vs. systolic and diastolic function | | E/A ratio | ≤0.50 | 0.51-1.00 | 1.01-1.50 | 1.51-2.00 | >2.00 | | Number | 125 | 3,988 | 2,856 | 1,077 | 681 | | RVSP (mean ± SD) | 36.2±9.5 | 33.6±8.5 | 32.9±8.9 | 32.2±9.2 | 35.3±11.5 | | Age for E/A (mean ± SD) | 83.8±9.3 | 75.5±11.5 | 64.2±15.6 | 54.6±20.7 | 52.2±24.8 | | | | | | | | | E/E' | ≤8 | 9-15 | >15 | | | | Number | 1,559 | 2,986 | 1,225 | | | | RVSP (mean ± SD) | 29.7±7.1 | 33.2±9.0 | 38.2±11.0 | | | | | | | | | | | LA size (mm) | ≤40 | >40 | | | | | Number | 6,647 | 3,453 | | | | | RVSP (mean ± SD) | 32.3±8.2 | 37.8±10.9 | | | | | | | | | | | | EF (%) | ≤30 | 31-50 | >50 | | | | Number | 259 | 8451 | 8,8579 | | | | RVSP (mean ± SD) | 42.6±12.8 | 37.6±11.7 | 33.6±9.0 | | |
