MUGA (MUltiple Gated Acquisition) scan.
- There are no specific pre-test recommendations.
- The test is performed as the most accurate method of measuring and following ejection fraction. Often used prior to and following cancer chemotherapy.
- Also used prior to the insertion of an ICD (Internal Cardiovertor Defibrillator).
- The patient's red blood cells are labelled in-vivo and 30-40 minutes later images are taken using the gamma camera.
