FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS AT THE CLINIC

1. Where can I park my car?

Answer: We have a verbal agreement with Shoppers Drug Mart, which allows our Patients to park in the Shoppers’ car park. If you park there you must give your car model and color to the Receptionist when checking in at the clinic. Also there is metered street parking which is sometimes available.

Answer: There is Wheel Chair access at the rear of the clinic. It is wise to call in advance so that staff are aware that you are coming.

4. Why is there not wheel Chair Access at the front entrance?

Answer: The City has refused a front entrance Wheel Chair access because of the narrow sidewalk.

5. Do I need to check in when I arrive?

Answer: Yes, you would be surprised how many people arrive in the clinic and sit and wait without telling anyone they are there.

6. Why do I need my OHIP card every visit?

Answer: Theoretically we are NOT allowed to see anyone without an OHIP card. In fact you run the risk of being billed directly for any services. It then becomes your responsibility to be reimbursed by OHIP.

7. Do you need to know what medications I am taking?

Answer: Knowing your medication accurately is CRUCIAL to ongoing care. We suggest that you either bring ALL of your medications to the visit or an up to date list of medications prepared the night before to include name of the medication(s), dose and number of pills taken per day.

8. What time does the clinic open?

Answer: The clinic is open from 8am to 5 pm. The phones are answered in person from 9am to noon and then again from 1pm to 4:30pm. At all other times there is an answering machine.

Answer: There are guidelines, which are published by the OMA. The Kingston Heart Clinic follows these guidelines. You can log on at, http://www.oma.org and find out the fees for yourself.

15. Why does someone come into the clinic and go straight in for their appointment when I have been here for ˝ hour?

Answer: This is a frequent complaint. There are 8 simultaneous rooms for which appointments can be booked for the many different testing procedures and there are always two Physicians seeing Patients as well.
